As The World Turns

Summertime, Summertime, Sum-Sum-Summertime!

Well, Springtime, anyhow.

As well as paycheck-time. My newly-deposited funds just told me that they wanted to be spent on something. My ears just told me that they wanted some new music. The two desires seemed to be highly compatible.

Before I ventured northward to Times Square, I took suggestions. Little Owl suggested Dance Hall Crashers, "Lockjaw." Shiv suggested some Esquivel -- apparently "fruity lounge music from the atomic age." Sea had a whole list: New Order's "Substance," Roxy Music's "Virginia Plain," and Ultravox, "The Collection." He was certain that I would veto all of his votes. (Sidenote: I find it curious that "veto" and "vote" are but one little letter-swap away from being each other. Funny, that.) I assured him that I would not, in fact, veto all of his suggestions.

I lied.

I vetoed everybody's suggestions, actually. I ended up walking out of Virgin with "The Sound of Music" by Pizzicato Five, and Miss Kittin's "Radio Caroline Mix CD." I picked them out all by myself! I feel quite accomplished. (I also left the list of suggestions on my desk.)

Also, the warm weather has brought someone out of the woodwork: Good ol' Naked Cowboy. Back in the middle of Times Square, singin', and stompin' his Cowboy Boots at the ends of Naked Cowboy Legs. A trip to buy music just is not the same without him.

And further also: I broke a sweat walking back to the office! The sun was shining enough to cause and create actual sweat, which is a very welcome substitute for goosebumps and chattering teeth.
