Since Taydo seems to have dropped the ball on this one, I would like to report that the Trading Spaces Home Free series, which concluded with a special live episode on Sunday night, was FUCKING SHIT HOT. I was quite literally on the edge of my seat as they prepared to announce the grand prize winner.
More quality TV programming over the weekend: Iron Chef America. They finally seemed to have learned from their blunders in the episodes that William Shatner chaired. Granted, I love me some Bill Shatner, but they spent so much time showing fancy exploding graphics and cooks doing slam-dunks with leftover shrimp heads, that there was hardly a moment left over to discuss what was actually being prepared. The new round of episodes, featuring the new Iron Chefs American Bobby Flay, Mario Batali, and Wolfgang Puck, go back to the tried-and-true formula perfected in Japan. And tapping Alton Brown of "Good Eats" fame as the commentator was a stroke of absolute genius, people. GENIUS. I have yet to watch my Tivoed Puck/Morimoto and Tag Team battles, but the two with Flay/Sakai and Batali/Morimoto were, just like the Trading Spaces show mentioned above, FUCKING SHIT HOT. Even if Sakai was robbed by Flay the Pompous Hack. I would like to see a battle where Flay decided NOT to directly copy half his dishes from something that is on his menu (with many thanks to my bf Patches, a.k.a. Flexible, for the inside info).
And to make this a triple play, please allow me to express my utter adoration and admiration of Christina Aguilera for her spot-fucking-on impression of Samantha of Sex and the City fame, in this week's repeat episode of Saturday Night Live. In regards to her newly-declared transsexuallity, she said "Weenie in a bottle" just like Kim Cattrall would have said "Weenie in a bottle."
Now that I have alienated everyone with my vapid ramblings about this weekend's tv programming, I would also like to say that the Queen Mary 2 is INSANELY huge, I got a little misty watching the Queen Elizabeth 2's final voyage, and I would give my left arm to be aboard either.
Also I still really love Kim Cattrall in "Mannequin."
